Attention Homes Crisis Shelter
The Crisis Shelter Program offers short-term residential services (30 days or less) to youth ages 10-17 who require emergency shelter due to abuse, neglect, family crisis, runaway behavior or other problems experienced within the home, school or community. This program provides youth and families with referrals and education to help resolve crises and facilitate the youth's return to their home. While in the program, the youth attend their regular school or they are provided alternative educational services as needed. The crisis shelter is not a "lock down" detention center nor is it designed as a punishment for youth who are "acting out." We provide bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms and a living area that creates a comfortable home-like environment that is beneficial to the youth we serve. We try to establish a safe, nurturing atmosphere for the youth. This allows the youth to reflect on the reasons for placement and to get support in determining how best to deal with the problems occurring within their homes. Crisis residents participate in structured activities that are designed to inform and educate youth about problems they face everyday. |
